WHY JOIN THE GRAPEVINE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
History doesn’t preserve itself. Every depot, cabin, photograph, and family story that survives in Grapevine today survives because someone decided it was worth saving, and then did the work. Membership in the Grapevine Historical Society is how that work continues.
YOU HELP PROTECT WHAT’S LEFT
Grapevine has already lost buildings, records, and stories that can never be replaced. The ones that remain, the Torian Cabin, the Cotton Belt Depot, the calaboose, decades of the Grapevine Sun preserved on microfilm, survived because the Society stepped in, often with only days of notice. Membership dues and volunteer hours directly fund the ongoing care of these landmarks and the archive that documents them.
YOU KEEP LOCAL MEMORY ALIVE
So much of what we know about early Grapevine exists only because someone wrote it down, photographed it, or sat for an oral history recording before it was too late. The Society’s Audio History Project, its cemetery records, and its published histories all exist because members made them a priority. As longtime residents pass on, the window to capture their memories narrows every year. Members help keep that window open.

Members are invited to monthly programs and presentations covering Texas and Grapevine history, often featuring authors, researchers, and longtime residents with firsthand stories to share. Membership also connects you with neighbors who share a genuine interest in where Grapevine came from, a community within the community.

If you’ve ever traced your family’s roots, looked up an old photograph, or wondered about the history of a building downtown, you’ve benefited from work the Society has already done. Members help fund continued archive access, library resources, and research support for residents, genealogists, and historians alike.
